The world’s most popular social media platform, Twitter, or its new name, X, has undergone significant changes in recent months. Among the changes that began with Elon Musk’s “everything app” goal is the rebranding of the platform as X, and important adjustments are being made to some features.
Today, it has been reported that X (formerly Twitter) will be discontinuing the Circle feature, which was introduced last year and is not considered very old. The removal date of this feature, widely used by users, has also been announced.
X (Twitter) is discontinuing the Circle feature soon!
For those who are unaware, X’s (Twitter’s) Circle feature allows users to share their posts only with the people they choose to see, similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature. This feature, which allows you to select up to 150 people, will soon be removed from the platform.
The Support section of X’s (Twitter’s) website now includes a notice stating that the Circle feature will be discontinued as of October 31, 2023. This option for sharing posts will not be available from that date onwards. However, posts previously shared for Circle will remain as they are.
The reason why X (Twitter) decided to remove the Circle feature is unknown. The company has not provided an explanation for this. However, there are various speculations. According to these speculations, the reason may be the errors in the feature. In recent months, many users complained that there was no indication in posts shared for Circle, leading them to believe that everyone could see them.
In addition to showing posts shared for Circle in the “For You” section, there were also significant flaws such as allowing users outside the Circle group to see the posts. Moreover, the company confirmed this issue. In conclusion, X (Twitter) was receiving numerous reports regarding this feature.
